Puget Ventures (TSX:PVS) joined the ranks of Canadian Exploration companies focused on base metals in politically stable jurisdictions when it commenced trading on the TSX Venture exchange last month. The company launched itself with the Trout Bay joint venture project with Goldcorp (TSX:G).

Trout Bay is a 3,400 hectare property in the Red Lake area in north-western Ontario, and lies within the Greenstone Belt that also hosts Goldcorp's Red Lake Mine. one of the richest gold mines in history, with gold grades up to 2 troy ounces per tonne.

Puget and Goldcorp's target is a nickel and platinum group elements-rich zone of massive suplhpides that has mineralized widths of .5 to 15 metres and covers a known strike length of over 2 kilometres to a depth so far of at least 140 metres.

The property also hosts two zones of copper-zinc massive sulphide mineralization including the High Grade Lake Zone which hosts a non-compliant estimate of 124,760 tons grading 7.86% zinc, 1.50% copper, 0.24% lead, 57.8 g/t silver and 2.40 g/t gold. This is a historic resource that does not comply with the Canadian National Instrument 43-101 standard for mineral resource reporting.

Management of Puget is shared by Michael Dehn as CEO and Erin Airton as president. Ms. Airton founded and structured the company.

Mr. Dehn is a former senior geologist for Goldcorp in Red Lake District. Recently, Michael was president and CEO of Nayarit Gold Inc (TSX.V:NYG). He currently sits as a director of Metalore Resources Ltd. (TSX:MET), Columbia Metals Corp Ltd. (TSX.V:COL), and Trelawney Resources Inc. (TSX.V:TRR) and provides management consulting services to a number of resource companies.

Puget today announced the appointment of two prominent mining industry veterans to its advisory board. James Dawson, MSc, PEng, is currently the president of Dawson Geological Consultants Ltd., and sits on the board of directors of both Minefinders Inc. (AMEX:MFN, TSX:MFL) and Kivalliq Energy Corporation. Over the past 36 years, he has examined, explored and evaluated a number of properties in Canada, the United States and internationally, and participated in the discovery of a number of precious and base metals deposits, including the Blackdome mine, the Frasergold and Taurus properties in British Columbia, and the Bighorn mine in Arizona.

Darin Wagner, MSc, PGeo. brings over 20 years of exploration and development experience having spent several years with Cominco Ltd. as a member of its project development team where he was responsible for managing exploration and discovery activities throughout North and South America. He worked on the Duck Pond discovery in Newfoundland, which recently entered production. Mr. Wagner is currently president and chief executive officer of a Vancouver-based public mineral exploration and development company.

"We are very pleased to add both James and Darin to our team," said Erin Airton, president. "They bring a wealth of directly applicable exploration and corporate experience to Puget Ventures as we embark upon on exploration of our Trout Bay property in Red Lake, Ont., and look to expand our project portfolio."
